Video production process can be defined as the process that involves the making of the film or any recorded video work . Examples of such can documentaries, films, reality shows, musicals and many more. The video production process needs a lot of time, money and strength. It will involve a few professionals working together to put the work together. The videos recorded can either be based on a script or not but they must have a clear storyline. Those that take part in the video production process but do not appear in front of the camera are known as the video crew. It is only the actors who appear in front of the cameras. The three stages of video production process are namely pre production process, production process and the post production process.

The first stage of video production process is the pre production stage. As its name suggests this is the stage that comes before the actual production process starts. it needs a lot of preparation to be done and it is the top crew members that are involved. The top crew members involves in pre production stage are namely producers, set designer, production manager, director, script writer and many others. The kind of work done here is usually looking for the script, finding a producers who will sponsor the project, scouting for the location, conducting a research about the film, casting the actors, building the required set etc. After making sure that all is ready then a shooting schedule will be released to everyone to get prepared for the production stage.

It is the production process that is the second process of video production. In this stage the film is shot over a certain period of time. It involves going out in the field and putting your actors in front of the cameras to bring the film to life. In some cases for reality shows it involves setting up the camera and leaving it there to record live events. You can refer to the recorded videos as raw footages because they even contain the unwanted parts. It is at this stage that both the crew and actors are involved and they need a lot of time. When the video shooting process is done then the productin stage ends. They will then move on to the post production process.

The post production stage only involves the top crew members. They are the producers, directors and editors. The main people in this process are the editors. Their work is to trim the raw footages and put them together by joining them to make a full story. They will also add sound, lighting and effects to the video.
